A seat at the end of the long, long, long table
A seat at the end of the long, long, long table is a work looking at familial lines, histories and entanglements. Imagined as a family tree and using the home as a central focus, the work situates familial ties re-drawn as constellations, and posits various furniture meant for rest and/or work as personifications. The furniture illustrated were inspired by visits, conversations and speculations with families living within the Marine Terrace area, with family portraits forming the initial inspiration. Meant to consider familial ties across generations as well as geographical zones, A seat at the end of the long, long, long table is a constellation of histories, roots, kinships and ties.
The work is a permanent public commission at Marine Terrace MRT station, Singapore.
