Moses Tan (he/they) is an artist, curator, and enabler from Singapore currently based in the UK. They are interested in queer theory, melancholia, ecology, and, more recently, horror. In their work, they employ allegories and codedness as modes of resistance within censorious regimes. Part of their research considers notions of poetic resistance - open-ended forms guided by autotheory, as alternative bodies of lived, embodied knowledge. They often utilise mediums such as drawing, sculpture, video, and found objects in essayistic installations as spaces of speculation. They graduated with a BSc (Hons) from Nanyang Technological University in Chemistry and Biological Chemistry and a BA (Hons, First Class) from LASALLE College of the Arts. They are currently reading an MFA in Fine Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London, supported through a highly competitive National Arts Council, Singapore Postgraduate Scholarship.

They have shown in various spaces, including Kadist San Francisco (USA), Singapore Art Museum (SG), Ames Yavuz (SG), 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art (AU), and completed residencies at Santa Fe Art Institute (USA) and Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (AU). Their works have been in private collections and also institutional collections such as the Kadist Foundation and Singapore Art Museum. They also showed in fairs such as Untitled Art Miami Beach 2025, Asia Now Paris 2025, ART SG 2024, and Art Basel Hong Kong 2021.

Tan also work as a curator and enabler, having found artist-run, independent space s t a r c h in 2021, enabling artistic and curatorial experimentation, re-orientation, and alternative enabling.

s t a r c h has produced various exhibitions, including artist residencies and even supported performances. As a space, it has been featured on Time Out Asia, Financial Times UK, F Zine SG, and Monocle.
